Hello and welcome to Platform Updates, the weekly podcast from research※mesh. It’s Monday, September first, 2025. In today's episode, we are covering two updates to the platform. Our first item today is about encouraging the use of ORCID. The research※mesh platform is built around ORCID, both because it helps distinguish between authors in publications and because we want to support its integration into the wider research ecosystem. To help you explain its function to colleagues, we've prepared an overview you can use. Seeing the platform in action can provide researchers with a tangible reason to update and manage their ORCID profile. We are always looking to hear about your observations on ORCID adoption in your own communities, so please let us know what you learn. Speaking of adoption, one way to help is to host an ORCID Clinic. As an example of what this can look like, Western University is holding a virtual workshop on Wednesday, September 24th, from 12 to 1 PM Eastern Time. The session is a hands-on walkthrough where faculty can configure their profiles to automatically pull new publications from databases. Rather than a presentation, it is set up to provide people with dedicated time and live support from facilitators to get their ORCID profile configured. So, from explaining the function of an ORCID profile to providing dedicated time for setup, events like the one at Western University show one way to put these ideas into practice. It's a shift from describing what a tool does to giving people the space and support to use it. That brings us to the end of this week's episode. Thank you for listening to Platform Updates.
