One way to help foster the uptake and adoption of ORCID in your institution is to host an ORCID Clinic.
Here are the details for an upcoming ORCID Clinic host at Western University. The event is open to all, so feel free to join us for a refresher on ORCID optimization, share with colleagues in your research unit, and/or to use this event as a template for hosting your own session at your institution:
The ORCID Clinic is a virtual workshop scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2025, during the lunch hour (12-1PM ET). The session is designed as a practical, hands-on walkthrough, where faculty members can optimize their ORCID profiles to automatically pull new publications from scholarly databases.
The session includes demonstrations of connecting ORCID to trusted databases, step-by-step assistance with profile configuration, and breakout rooms for individual support when needed. Rather than being heavily instructional, this clinic focuses on helping attendees simply carve out dedicated time to complete the process with real-time, live support. Facilitators will be available for troubleshooting and answering questions. This workshop emphasizes execution over explanation, providing the supportive environment and assistance to "just do it" and get one's ORCID profile configured for automatic publication synchronization.
Facilitated by Kristin Hoffman (Western Libraries), Arielle Vanderschans (Western Libraries), Lama El Ayoubi (Faculty of Health Sciences), Qing Liu (Western Research), and James Shelley (Western Research/Faculty of Health Sciences)
